Question: Why should God let you into heaven? Here is what God wants you to know about this question:
1. All men need to be saved:
"For all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
"Therefore, just as through one man sin
entered into the world, and death through sin,
and so death spread to all men, because
all sinned" (Romans 5:12).
2. God has provided salvation:
"But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the
just for the unjust, in order that He might
bring us to God, having been put to death in
the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit"
(I Peter 3:18). "For the wages of sin is death,
but the free* gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
* Salvation is a free gift that cannot be
earned--"For by grace you have been saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God. Not as a result of works,
that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
3. God wants you to receive this salvation:
"For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish,
but have eternal life. For God did not
send the Son into the world to judge the
world, but that the world should be saved
through Him. He who believes in Him
is not judged; he who does not believe has
been judged already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only begotten
Son of God” (John 3:16-18). Simply pray
to God the Father that: "I need to be saved,
and I am convinced that Your Son Jesus Christ
paid the penalty for my sins, and give
me the free gift of eternal life."
